Jaggery (gur in Hindi) is India's traditional chai sweetener. Naturally high in minerals and antioxidants, it is obtained by evaporating raw, concentrated sugar cane juice until it solidifies. This is then cut into blocks or powdered (like ours).
It delivers a beautiful rich caramel-like flavour and colour to chai and baked goods without the sickly sweetness of refined sugar.
Traditionally used for:
- balancing hormones, relieving mood swings and PMS
- treating anaemia (high in iron)
