Product of India.
Mace 'blades' are the lacy red arils that surround the nutmeg seed. Together with nutmeg it has been used for centuries to treat many ailments, and imparts a lovely nutty flavour to any dish.
Traditionally used for:
- treating insomnia
- slowing the development of Alzheimer's and dementia
- improving concentration and memory
- alleviating depression
- soothing the nervous system
- treating eczema and acne
- relieving pain
We use it sparingly for its earthy nuttiness. Along with black tea it enhances concentration and mental alertness, while its calming properties soften the effects of caffeine.
